Bandleader and composer Lina Lövstrand has created her own voice within the jazz genre through her music and artistic expression as a flutist and woodwind player. Lina allows the listener to take part in an interesting sound in the use of a tone-setting solo narrative. For 20 years, she has been active as one of the country's leading woodwind players in several theater and musical productions, touring performances and in a long line of collaborations. After releasing two albums, "Lina Lövstrand Stories" in 2022 and "Woodwind Stories 2024", she frequently performs with her jazz ensemble. With her project Woodwind Stories, she has received attention for her way of uniting the different sound worlds of woodwind instruments and for creating music that is both innovative and accessible.
Woodwind Stories
After the critically acclaimed debut album Lina Lövstrand Stories (2022), flutist and composer Lina Lövstrand has continued to deepen her personal expression – where the rich sound world of woodwind instruments is at the center. In the follow-up Woodwind Stories (2024), this sound is further developed with eight compositions where flutes, bass clarinet and recorder are intertwined in dense, polyphonic arrangements. The basic idea of the music is to let the woodwind take center stage – not just as a solo instrument, but as a supporting part of the ensemble sound.
The group has performed acclaimed concerts around Sweden and internationally, including at Jazz Baltica this summer, and is now preparing to record its third album in the spring of 2026. Over the past two years, the ensemble has deepened its collaboration with woodwind player Per "Texas" Johansson – a meeting that has resulted in a lively and imaginative concert collaboration where different woodwind constellations with, for example, double bass clarinet, bassoon, recorder, flutes and oboe can take place.
Lina Lövstrand's music moves between groove, richness of detail and lyrical presence – with a playful seriousness and a tonal language where tradition meets experimentation. Woodwind Stories offers a captivating sound beyond the ordinary and takes the audience on a concert journey filled with sound, rhythm and endless possibilities.
